Shraddha Iyer has spent her entire life living in rural Alaska, always yearning to leave Alaska and go to the seemingly mystical "lower 48," or the Alaskan term for the rest of the United States. She finally gets her chance when she's been accepted into the University of Rochester with a full ride scholarship to study Microbiology and Bioethics. Moving from a small town to a large city has its effects, and she slowly starts to feel inferior to everyone else and begins her spiral to depression.
