The time of wakefulness is the moment you knew you're dying and that is the way it is. You neither should long for an old friend to come back nor long for love that's been forgotten--ressurects. Because truth be told, our time in this world is fleeting. A person must be fully awake to accept things as it is no matter the cause, no matter the ending.
