This was a point in time where there was an economic depression in America leading to the loss of many jobs. This is the journey of Joan as she tries to get places during this rough time in her life. This is just a short story that I wrote in my free time.

A voice asked. "You'll catch a cold, why didn't you take your jacket?" I spun around, and my eyes locked with Marcus's eyes. "Hey," I said, my voice a little trembling from the cold, and I wrapped my arms across my chest, my shoulders stiffening. I had not expected that it would be so cold. My fingers dug into my sleeves, and I shifted my weight from one foot to the other, trying not to shiver too obviously. Marcus didn't answer right away. He just looked at me for a second, then stepped forward. Silently, he slid off his jacket and placed it over my shoulders, and I ensnared it tighter around me immediately.
