An Unexpected Moment by caromerri

... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As I transcribe it here, I have tried to update it a bit and give the characters/story more depth than what I had when I was younger. Hopefully it all gets pulled together!

I don't care." ********************************************************************************************** If you took one look at Alex Bailey you would think she is just a normal, shy, nerdish, girl. Alex is a senior in high school. She is clumsy, loves reading, and loves to sing and draw. She is smart, good girl, and can be very fierce when needed. During the day she is normal but at night she is a spy. Bailey was told to go on a mission with her 2 best friend Benny and Kenna, where she meets Jacob. Jacob Davis is what you would call a bad boy, he also is a gang-leader to the biggest gang in the world. He smokes, parties, he has dealt with gangs, basically does what some teenagers nowadays do. He also hides behind his hood. He only talks to his best friends. He doesn't like social interaction. No one one has seen his face besides his friends. He doesn't date. He hates it. He doesn't like to be tied down. That is until he meets the shy, fierce, nerdy girl, Alex. Something about her long brown wavy hair, piercing blue eyes, and freckles, made him go crazy. He wants her to be hid. He is protective and possessive over her. He hates it when other boys talk to her.

What has my life come to?- was my thought as I pulled layers of skin back from a girl I had only known for a short time. Her name was Carly with short blonde hair and sky blue eyes. "Thank you, Carly, for helping me," I whispered as I smeared her blood on my face. I began to feel weak. How long has it been, and how long can I survive? As I contemplated these questions, my mind began to slowly sink into darkness... They are closer now, and soon I'll be free...was my last thoughts.

I still love you, you know that I woke up with my hair matted to my forehead from the sweat. Not again, I thought as I wrapped my arms around my chest and began to softly rock myself. Those words lingered in my head, desperately wanting to be said to him. Alex is a 22 year old woman trying to move away from her past and make a new life for herself, but when an opportunity arises for her to see someone who meant so dearly to her, but tossed her aside, she decided to take it hoping it would put closure on the constant pain. But she never thought that anything like this would happen. Now, she's in too deep and it may break her beyond repair. Caelan thought things would be easier this way, he thought she could make a life for herself outside of him and settle down with someone who wouldn't be constantly traveling. She deserved someone who could actually be there for her, not only a few months out of the year. Someone who had his life together and could love her to the fullest. Dillon may have left with Caelan for the tour, but he always remained closed to Alex and slowly began to love her over the years. He thought he could put the pieces of her heart back together and fix what his friend destroyed. But he may have damaged her more than anyone else.

There wasn't really anything all that special about me. I considered myself an average person with average looks. That being said, I also considered myself a very gaunt person. I was sort of a nerd. Not like a big 'ooooh, look at him, with his glasses, pocket protector and retainer', I of course had never worn any of those things. I'm a quiet type of nerd . Quiet, as in my only friends were people who weren't exactly as bad off as me, but you know, they weren't the most popular either. One girl, Jade who I considered to be an overachieving busybody. She was always trying to improve her already perfect average self while meddling in other peoples business. I also had a guy friend named Alex. He was almost like me, which made us the perfect best friend. He was also pretty popular, even though he hung out with me. Neither Jade, nor Alex were terrible to look at. In fact, sometimes I wondered why they weren't even more popular than they were. Jade is a model, tall with long black hair a perfect body and nice sized tits. Alex is perfect. Perfect six pack, perfect biceps, perfect face..... I know what you're probably thinking right now. 'Talking about your best guy friend like that? Are you gay?' Well between me and you, that's something I'd never admit to anyone. Ever.
