After spending a year taking care of her grandmother in Florida, seventeen-year-old Tessa Daniels travels to California to visit her father and two brothers at their new house, but only on the condition that it's only for the summer. She's up to the idea - until the next door neighbor begins to take notice in her. His name is Alex Bennett. He's six-foot-two, and he's the perfect kind of muscular, but most importantly, he's cute. That, however, is precisely what prompts her to stay away from him. She sees no need in getting involved in a relationship just to have her heart broken and shattered to pieces, like she witnessed when her parents had a major downfall in their marriage. All Tessa wanted was an innocent trip to California. What she got was a journey filled with smiles, laughter, heartbreak, and love. And to think - it could all happen Once Upon a Summer.

One plane ride could change your life. SOPHIA RANDALL likes her routines. She plans everything, down to the very last second. And Sophia is content to stay in the radius of her hometown in Brookline, Massachusetts forever and ever. Change is not a word that exists in her vocabulary. Sophia doesn't take risks. She doesn't see the point. That is, until her free spirited sister, Abby, convinces her to take a trip to Hawaii. Then everything changes, because Sophia meets Jake... JACOB SULLIVAN JONES doesn't know who he is. His estranged parents have tried to control his entire life according to their plan. He has two options, and picking one would be like picking a parent. Jacob knows what everyone else wants with one glance. Hawaii is his last chance to find out what he wants, not anyone else. It seemed like the perfect solution to his problems. One whole summer on his own, no parents, no impending responsibility. Enter Sophia, who Jake falls in love with the moment he lays eyes on her. Spending a summer in Hawaii, even if you do have to work at a tourist excursion company, is every eighteen year old's dream. Surf, sand, and crystal clear waters, there isn't much more you could ask for. Sophia's goal is to steer clear of any present danger, and Jake's goal is to jump headfirst into it. What could possibly go wrong? WARNING: This book may cause bouts of nausea, anger, and loneliness. You may also experience sudden outbursts of excitement, and/or an overwhelming urge to squeal. A sweet, coming of age story, covered in a thick helping of comedic relief, adorable moments, and summer vacation nostalgia.
