Maya Lindell used to have a perfect life. Her dad owned a very successful business, and her family of three lived in a grand mansion.
Everything fell apart when her parents died in a mysterious fire that burned down the whole mansion and all of their belongings with it, while she was at her friend's house.
Her dad's business was passed onto one of his closest friends, so nothing was left to Maya. All of her close relatives in New York didn't want to take her in to live with them, so she was left to live in a small, old orphanage that was close to her aunts and uncles, in case of an emergency.
Her life was a bore, the total opposite of her past life. She is now 17, and she has to plan what she'll do when she turns 18 and gets to leave the horrid orphanage. She has no hope until she sees a poster about a dance competition.
With her talent in ballet, and a love-hate relationship with a boy named Zac, her future seems more clear to her. Good or bad, at least she has a path to follow now.
