Howard Stoker is a struggling horror story writer, he wants to be the next R.L. Stine or Stephen King, but his stories aren't getting the feedback he wants. A friend of his suggests that he take a break from writing and relaxing by playing the superhero VRMMORPG Apex Online. Eventually, Howard takes his friend's advice and plays the game, but Howard doesn't choose to become a Hero like almost every other player. Instead, he becomes a villain and creates another monster to allow himself to go wild. But after his first successful rampage, Howard gets contacted by the creators of Apex Online, and they give him a new reason to play the game. Apex Online is in trouble, and Howard's latest monster, Abaddon, maybe what they need to save it.
