Veronica Henderson always wanted a pretty life. Be the girl next door. Get the attention of the guys she likes. Have lots of friends who like her. Get married to her long time boyfriend Henry Wood, and have lots of children.

But unfortunately, life doesn't quite like it when you do that. Life enjoys giving you what you want and then quickly taking it away from you.

Will Byers went missing, throwing Veronica's life 'upside down'. She loses her friend Barb soon after and Nancy draws away and closer to Jonathan Byers.

And Steve Harrington doesn't want any of that. He wants a girlfriend that he won't keep. He wants kids but not the wife and the picket fence. But when his girlfriend's friend needs some help, who else can he turn to?

While everyone is figuring out what to do, Veronica and Steve are quick to join up, becoming friends.

But a vanishing boy and a bald girl are just the beginning, and Steve and Veronica were drawn into a world they shouldn't have been in the first place. Them becoming friends was next, a phenomenon that should never have occurred. But stranger things have happened.
