Hope. What a strange thing. Powerful, yet, completely useless. Something warranted as not wanted, but strongly needed. It was something I despraitly tried to give. But then I died. Ida Florence was a being of sheer power. Unmatched by any who had gone before her. That was until a baby was born 1,000 years later. That child grew up to kill her. In a desperate effort and fear of her power falling into the wrong hands, she makes her dying declaration. And sends her powers off into the nearest person: Pearl. Hoping she had given the world new hope. For that to have happened, she should've chosen someone else. It hurt at first, but then that faded away. The confusion I felt was replaced by amazement at the things I could do!! I can fly?! I can fly! Pearl isn't what you would normally call the hero type. Honestly even the word good; unless it was for her own self intresets, wouldn't even come to mind. She has to learn the hard way that every action has a consequence. Through trail and error she must learn to control herself, or her city will fall. A power is rising up from the north, one that's older than time. With only one non-hero to stand in its way. Will Pearl have what it takes to stand up and be good, or will she let her own self intrests get in the way? The balance of power hangs disrupted and many lives will be lost if she doesn't decide.

"I've tried telling them I'm only fifteen. That no sane government would force a boy my age to fight crime. 'But Max, you're a superhero! Isn't this what you want?' Actually, no. I just kind of want to get through high school. Then we'll talk about this 'superhero' business." Max Owens is your average high school sophomore. Well, he tries to be, at least. At fifteen, he's got more important things to do than fight the infamous Vinicus Cauldwell. With his single mother having recently lost her job, Max is determined to help his family get back up on its feet. The publicity and pressure that comes with being a superhero would be too much to handle right now. But it's hard to fly under the radar, when you can literally fly. Meanwhile, Vinicus Cauldwell enjoys the power he has as Murkbourne's most feared super-villain. For once, he can sit back and relax without being pestered by the police. That is, until Max arrives. Vinicus isn't happy about having to fight a child, but he can't let Max find out. After all, super-villains can't be "good people"... Can they? We can't all be born heroes. But most of us are Heroes at Heart. (Based on a writing prompt / story request by tumblr user "fallingivy")
