Crystal Kunz, an astronaut, is on board the International Space Station when it is struck by a micro meteorite, causing minor damage to the outside of the hull. When found, it is brought inside the station, and everyone on board the station holds it and takes a look at it. However, what they don't know is that it has a dormant strain of a gene-changing virus from space that infects everyone. When the first of them begins to get sick, they all think it's a normal cold, but as it gets worse and others get sick, with the same symptoms, NASA begins to worry and emergency lands everyone on board and puts them in quarantine. All the while, the virus is changing their genetic makeup. Crystal soon starts growing wings on her back throughout the sickness, along with Vincent Vuhad, another astronaut who was on board.

When close to death and given a tentative cure, Crystal and Vincent begin to recover from the sickness as their wings continue to grow. As they gather their strength back, the other four astronauts are given a new cure to cure the genetic changes and the sickness, but instead it does the opposite, making their sicknesses worse and killing them. Crystal and Vincent can't do much about them, but instead they throw themselves in learning how to fly with their new wings.

By the time they've gotten pretty good at flying, aliens attack Earth and kill every single human being on the planet.

Except them.

Join Crystal and Vincent as they run from aliens and go cross-country while trying not to die!

Inspired by @CrystalScherer's work Upon Wings of Change, this story takes place within the seven-year timeskip in the original.

Highest Rank: #1 Alien 6-21-21 WARNING: This contains Xenophile (Alien / Human smut) If you don't find interest then that, this is not the place to be. Thanks! Or Skip the chapter. 18+ ______________________ The year is 3999. Nearly a thousand years after a alien infection was set loose by the intelligent lifeforms know as Irinaut. No one knows exactly how they were able to make such a infection, but it was capable of destroying nearly all life on Earth. Those who couldn't hide or make it to the ships to escape their home planet, were left for the Irinauts. These alien lifeforms were capable of controlling human bodies, infecting them with their black dust, impregnating fertile human female's, and growing the Irinaut's massive companions, the Yeti's, a less evolved version of the Irinaut. Earth is gone. Nothing more then a ball of dust. After the people fled on ships, they traveled to their new hope. It was a place of solitude. The human race was able to flee from the foreign infection, but for how long? Luna was frozen on the ship. For nearly a 200 years, their ship had traveled. Many people had been placed in a cryogenic state. That of which kept them from aging as they made their way out of the infection. For them, a place of safety, The Solar Sun. The Solar Sun space ship was the closest landing unit in the solar system. Many others would have to be traveled to after refueling and preparing for another two or three centuries of being in a cryogenic state. For Luna, the girl hopes that space would be her escape from the aliens that destroyed their Earth, but that was only the beginning. Upon arrival, the ship is found infested. Luna and a small team of scientists had come in hopes for finding a cure for the strange virus, only to find the virus had taken over most of The Solar Sun, following a few escaped Irinauts. The Solar Sun is their last hope, and their last escape from these beings, but what's to be found there will change everything.

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258! She survived the end. But it's only the beginning. Ever thought escaping Earth meant survival. Instead, it meant sacrifice. She lost her parents, her sister, and the two boys she loves-left behind to an uncertain fate. Now, on a distant planet she never asked to call home, Ever reunites with the brother she thought was dead. But this new world is not the refuge it promised to be. Her sister's haunting last words echo in her mind: "Your friends may be your foes, and your foes may be your only chance for survival." With her memories fractured by reimaging, Ever struggles to tell truth from illusion, ally from enemy-even within herself. As a genetically modified human, she carries a dangerous secret: she may be the only woman capable of creating life. To Environettix, the ruthless corporation pulling the strings, that makes her their most valuable-and most vulnerable-target. And she isn't the only one. The other Mods brought from Earth are caught in the same web of lies, their very existence exploited for an agenda darker than they ever imagined. But the planet itself holds secrets of its own. And Ever is beginning to realize a chilling truth: they don't belong here. And when something doesn't belong, it's only a matter of time before it's erased. *This is Book 2 in The Dissonance Series
