Ten years on from the original book, catch up with that British couple who moved to a big old house in the countryside of South Bohemia. We are not expats, we are British immigrants, trying our best to make sense of the society that is kind enough to host us.
What's changed? Our English has got worse as our Czech improves. Our animal entourage has grown considerably and now we have a selection of wild and crazy Czech friends to keep us entertained.
Settled, but Brexit looming, will we be able to keep home and hearth together? Or will we be forced to move on?

Caroline is 16 when she suddenly decides that her perfectly normal and loving home life is absolutely and completely intolerable. Suddenly moving out of home in 1988 is the beginning of a 13 year journey. As the journey continues, the passage of time has no significance. Always with the ability to find the humorous side, each address marks another chapter in Caroline's life and is the backdrop for the people she meets and the events that occur. Accommodation varies from unheated rooms and houses with wheel-less cars jacked-up outside to Regency flats and rural cottages. Transportation means vary from a single use bicycle, to Betsa and the faithful Dwanetta. Flatmates vary from a lovely Brummie and a singing nun to a dying dog, a ginger laminator, a 3 nippled geek and an accidental spell with a local drugs baron. Events vary from harbouring boarding schoolgirls, exercising racehorses, the occasional rave, trading in shampoo and marmite on toast to looking for stolen laundry, going undercover and self-defence with a hockey stick. Jobs vary from not having one to shop work, bartending and au pair through to getting a toe on the corporate ladder. There is infatuation, and love from various sources so there is also disappointment, and breakups by varying means and for various reasons. Education varies from a bit of formal study to a large dollop of the University of Life. The latter being the real reason Caroline left home in the first place - to grow up in her own way through her own experiences with no-one else to blame but herself and the interesting hand that life deals along the way. Caroline moves home 19 times, only to find that the 20th move takes her to the last place she ever expected to be. Back where she started. Things aren't always as they seem...Complete

This is a sequel, so read "Dating a YouTuber?!" first. I wholeheartedly loved and trusted Nate despite having known him less than a year. I had a million reasons why I shouldn't move in with him but I decided to ignore them and trust my gut feeling rather than my head. I knew people would say it was too soon and that I'd be giving up even more privacy living with a YouTuber who daily vlogged. Slowly but surely I was being wrapped in various YouTube activities and it had become a significant part of my life. I would be busier than ever when I went back to university and continued to run my now high-profile blog. It would be a challenge to juggle the pressure from the online world while attending my responsibilities, finding time for my passions and maintaining all my personal relationships. I didn't mind though. Penny and George have embarked on a new life; not only as man and wife (both second timers) but in a new country. When their business goes to the wall they have to make difficult decisions about their retirement plans for moving to Italy where they had invested in an old crumbling property. After much hair pulling, wine drinking and discussions with their trusted friends, Daphne and Roger, they decide to move, lock stock and barrel. The stories are a humorous take on the issues of moving abroad with very little in the back pocket as well as the everyday complications of another language, culture and systems. Penny and George bumble along knocking into the odd expat here and there, collecting a family of stray animals and trying hard to cultivate green fingers to keep the wolf from the door. There is an unexpected turn in the story that drastically changes the course of events and, in the long run, even the lives of those involved. He seems to find his way back from this new world of giga-dimensions but something unwanted happens, and things go worse. The cultural differences, together with a challenging personality traits of another involved in the events, suck Magpie and his friends into a downward spiral. The story challenges you to see the world differently from the perspective you are perhaps too used to and narrowed by. Life can be an adventure if you don't narrow it with a bigotry that forces you to be rooted in your trenches and behind your dividing walls. This doesn't mean you have to accept others' views without standing your ground. However, to be able to share our lives in this one and only world we need to make compromises, on both sides. Are you the first brave one to set this positive trend in motion? So read on and let the foundation of the story be laid. From the end of episode 1 on, the story really picks up, finally reaching its climax at the end of episode 3 with quite a surprising finish. Your participation in solving this shared challenge of coexistence and cooperation is highly appreciated. Remember those who cooperate make more progress than those who don't! The ideal audience for my first book is actually between 12 and 16, but anybody older and interested in adventures, cultures and in getting more understanding into our multifaceted world is sure to enjoy the story.
