Even though she has lived most of her life with her mother as an only child, she still never learned to love and never genuinely understood it.

Over all of that she thinks she might have feelings for Dre. A girl who's closest to her. But she may also have feelings for James.
When they both find out who she really likes things get out of hand.
She becomes suicidal whenever she has really hard decisions to make and this was one of them.

However, that won't be the case here. This is about parallel worlds. For Meredith and Lukas, they didn't find that out so quickly. Bullied and shunned for being the daughter of two famous and quite elite people, the students in Meredith Tanner's high school drove her off the cliff, resulting in therapy sessions once a week. Lukas James was in a different situation. He dropped out of high school (which disappointed his parents) and became a YouTuber, live-streaming games of generation A to Z. The two depressive teenagers didn't expect anything to change. She would continue therapy and never recover from the bullying and screeching suicidal thoughts, remaining as her high school's social outcast.
