Jack Harkness knew it was going to be bad.
He always hated interdepartmental efforts - Torchwood worked best when they operated alone.
The last thing he wanted was to be in charge of the investigation into the explosion that rocked Cardiff. The blast killed everyone who was in the museum - all but one.
This doesn't scream "alien" to him, more like "terrorist".
But he couldn't be surprised after strongarming all the other government agencies into taking over their cases once he realized it was above their pay grade, that they'd dumped the case no one wanted to touch, right into his lap.
It doesn't take long for him to realize the more he digs, the less things make sense.
Is the pretty survivor more than a victim? Or just a victim of circumstances?
Jack isn't convinced she's the mastermind behind the attack in Cardiff, but he knows damn well she's hiding something - and he's determined to uncover her secrets.
He needs to get to the bottom of the mystery that is Madi Mason.
But can he do that before she steals something precious from him?
