Set before the TV series, the Shelby brothers shared a younger sister, Mary.
Aged only seventeen, she is forced to fight her way through Birmingham, carrying the renowned and deadly Shelby name in her troubled journey to adulthood.  Though Mary shares many similarities with her brothers, a huge void has been created from her brothers being sent off to France in the first world war, suffering and struggling to regain her bond with her brothers, a rocky road lays ahead of her carefree, wild way of living. Her life is promptly upturned when a certain Solomons (Alfie) wriggles his way into her life.
