"I never feared death... until I saw you."
~•~•~

Samuel gazed up at her from beneath his dark brow. The many scars that littered his chest, made her heart ache for him. Had anyone cared for him when these wounds were fresh?

"You are staring again." He commented, his voice neutral.

Eden swallowed, biting her lip anxiously, "And you are shirtless." She replied, her voice equally as monotone.

"Aye, I am." He nodded, "But that is not why you stare."

"I do not stare with pity if that is what you are suggesting." She quipped, "I have seen enough pity in my life I would never put that upon anyone else."

"Yet still you stare." His green eyes appeared to sparkle as his lips curled into a knowing smirk, "You may not know why little flower, but you are staring all the same."

~•~•~

Vampire corpses begin to surface around town, drained of their blood, and the fingers are pointed at the hunter organization. I've used it as a substitute for eye contact. When he smirked just now, I felt myself tremble. "There's a corpse of my creation at my feet Serena. What makes you think I'm devout to religion?" That explains his willingness to sin. "You're a virtuous woman for keeping to your vows, but I am by no means a virtuous man." His intent to court me is not pure. It's certainly from his heart, but his cause is not only for my love. There's something that he must prove to me now... Whether his will is enough to turn me against my virtues.
