This novel was born long ago in the dark ages before the Internet. Back then, people fired up their 300 bps modems and called Bulletin Boards, computers with message areas and rudimentary email that were maintained by computer geeks. One board devoted to writing was called the Backwater Message Service. BWMS was host to several ongoing cooperative tales. One was a fantasy, another was a spy thriller. This tale, Spear, was born in that era and has languished in a box for some 30 odd years. I'm rehabbing it and hope to post a new chapter every week. So stay tuned for our next thrilling episode.
When Jane Madarang's neighbor Natalie kills herself and leaves behind cryptic instructions, it's up to Jane and her classmates to unearth deadly secrets.
*****
Natalie Driscoll is dead.
She threw herself out a window and left her neighbor Jane to unravel their town's darkest secrets. Following Natalie's instructions leads Jane to three other high school students who all have something to hide. The four of them must carry out Natalie's final errand while solving the mysteries written in her diary. But the secrets they unearth may be far more dangerous than what they ever imagined.
