He had a major issue though: he couldn't seem to find any interest in girls whatsoever.
He just tried time and time to convince himself that he needed time.
He got accepted to his dream school of University of California Los Angeles on a football scholarship which would help him to make it to pro. When he finally went away, he thought he would figure it all out.
Instead, he meets Mitch Ryder and everything he thought he knew about himself gets challenged.
