I wrote this story to a prompt for a competition. They wanted a historical setting with a fantasy element. Then I realised I wasn't eligible to submit it - but I kinda like the story anyway.  If you've ever wished that the people responsible for starting wars got their come-uppance - well, that's what this story's about. Partly. And partly, about valkyries.
