"The pattern on her arm meant nothing to Annabeth. She'd always had more pressing things to worry about, like saving the world. The idea that her soulmate was out there didn't really matter to her, given that the world would end if she didn't get on with this quest.

"Percy was somewhat of a non-believer. His mom had met her soulmate when she was 14 and to this day, she had no indication of who it might be. So when the small inked circle on his inner wrist becomes solid and filled, he's reluctant to acknowledge that his soulmate is out there somewhere."
