Freya Parker is struggling to stay morally righteous after the dead begin rising. Homegrown in southern Georgia, with a father for a cop, she was taught to never harm another living human being. But the dead aren't human. And the living aren't good. How can Freya keep her family safe without becoming a killer herself? When the military finally arrive with a vaccine, it sounds like her prayers have been answered, but something seem's off about the group. Will this vaccine turn out to be a blessing? Can we really keep the dead, dead again?

He tries to enlist the aid of a colleague to help him create the very virus he wants to eradicate, but she refuses on ethical grounds. Witnessing the horrific transformation of an infected patient forces her to reconsider, but before they can start working on a vaccine, their virus samples are stolen. As they criss-cross the country on a hunt for a cure, the paths of the two scientists cross those of a shadow organization on a secret mission, and a loose-knit network of zombie prepper groups whose loyalties are unclear. Since the infamous disease, Beutionus, has spread over the world, Francesca's life has taken a turn. Even though her state has been secured off, some people whom are infected somehow seem to sneak in and rise havoc. The infected are no longer considered humane, they crave flesh and have all taken an animalistic side, resorting to eating and devouring anything with a heart beat. No compassion, no empathy. No remembrances of their past life. When Francesca's state is found to no longer be secure, she finds her and her family, far past the "safe" borders to which the President has proclaimed.
