Shadow has been asking himself that same question ever since Maria died. He lost all hope in happiness and love. He thinks it's a weakness and that everyone who loves should go rot in hell. Until he meets sonic and his friends and he startes to get a crush on him only to find out that he's in a relationship with a pink furred hedgehog named Amy or so he thinks.

Sonic dislikes Amy SO MUCH. He wished he had never met her but because he's a prince, his parents forced him to get with her, so he ran away and never went back to his parents. But some how Amy managed to find him and is trying so HARD to get Sonic to like her again but it's not working. But when Sonic and his friends meet a hedgehog named Shadow, he spirks a interest in Shadow who doesn't remember anything from his past except how the humans killed his love Maria and his name.
