He doesn't know why he has it or how he got it, but he has it just the same. First he learned that he could interface with people and access their memories like looking through an old scrapbook. Then he learned that he could alter a person's sense of reality. He can use his gift to scare someone to death if he wants to; and he really wants to, it gives him a certain kind of rush. He prefers his victims to be a certain type of person though, someone who deserves to die, like his sexually abusive grandfather. That was his first victim.
