Liana Hem is nothing like her mother. Although her mother wants the poor to feel pain, Liana sneaks out at night to give food to the poor. Her sister is the same as her mother just without the powers of a shadow. Liana soon figures out a deadly plan her mother is plotting, which leads her to taking her sister far from the kingdom of Flore.
