Jan Dereus, an administrator of the anonymous citizen spy network in the dystopian technological supercity of Minto, is on the run after defecting from his country to sell government secrets. 

The two biggest superpowers of the continent of Meridian are at war and the hostile creatures of the inhabitable Crisis wildlands have disappeared as a new threat looms.

All anyone knows is that eight year old Fria is at the center of it all.
