Over the years nightmares have been a frequent friend in the Hopper house. Chills and a scream lodged in the back of her throat is the only way that Christine Hopper knows how to wake up. Her father tries hard to believe his daughter has a handle on her nightmares, ignoring the startled cries in the middle of the night, and the way she carries herself through the days, dreading the nightmares to come. Chris doesn't think anything of her nightmares, in fact she tries her hardest to ignore them by escaping to other worlds through books, movies, and music. When Chris's dreams start to come true, however, and a boy she knows goes missing, it becomes harder and harder for Chris to ignore the nightmares calling to her. She and the people she loves get caught in something one could only dream of.

As time went on, they were practically joined at the hip!.. until they turned 12, and Olivia started babysitting her little brother, Dustin, and his best friends, Mike Wheeler, Will Byers and Lucas Sinclair. A crush on Steve developed for Olivia when they entered the 7th Grade at Hawkins Middle School. Olivia changed a little in high school.
