Year 22XX

The world is coming to an end.

We all knew it would happen eventually. Somewhere in the back of our minds we knew that it was only a matter of time before humanity's rapid scientific advancements would spell our end. Military advanced faster than medicine could keep up, and the human race ended up on the brink of extinction.

The looming end of life on Earth led most of the world to put aside their altercations and come together to develop a way to save everyone. Of the hundreds of ideas produced, three doomsday solutions - labeled Project Exodus - had gathered the most support,

1) Send most of the population to space to find a new habitable planet.

2) Download everyone's memories into a self-sustaining super-computer and continue "life" in a digital universe.

3) Use still-developing translocational technology to teleport people to a neighboring dimension.

The first option was considered too resource-intensive to ever be viable, as there was not enough food or medical supplies to sustain indeterminate space travel for the amount of humans necessary to sustain the human race.

The second option was considered too controversial as well as prone to manipulation. There could be no proper failsafes to prevent the machine from becoming sentient.

The third option...

They grew self aware that there are those who lurk the earth looking like anything besides your average being, people who have the ability to do what the norm cannot, people who others believe should be removed. Those people being exorcists, something they should become. But what if they didn't want to grow up and follow in their bloodline like their sibling had? What if they wanted to live a normal life without the unique vision of seeing what the average citizen cannot? What if they cared not to be dragged into a life involving inhumane beings, and just studied for a job they yearned for, for the rest of their life? Unfortunately, wants cannot always be haves, for this young student at Kamome Gakuen cannot escape the life of a person with seeing eyes. It all started with a school mystery, his assistant, an exorcist, and somebody who wanted nothing to do with the apparition life in the first place. A shame none of them could get what they want. Everyone was evacuated from the home planet over 150 years ago. Our planet was dying, it was only a matter of time before our race was wiped out. We now live on a synthetic planet designed and built by our ancestors who came together from all parts of the globe to devise a plan to save us. We have lived peacefully for over a century.. Until now. Our lives were threatened when a mysterious and deadly virus broke out, killing entire communities at a time. The council says that they have a plan; they said that in order to prevent the death of more innocent people they will test every man, woman, and child for signs of the virus. Any person found to have been infected will be quarantined, the ones who die will be given a proper burial while the ones who survive are deemed carriers and are to be sent to the home planet to prevent further outbreak. I was prepared for the people I know and some I love being taken away for the greater good, but I never would have expected that among the list of people being taken from my community, that I would be one of them.. I survived the quarantine. Now for the survival of my planet I, and the other Carriers must be sent to the home planet. I'm going back to Earth. (This is not based on The 100 but there are similarities.) (Some violent themes, but other than that is entirely clean.) Please comment if you have any questions or concerns. This is a first draft so it is definitely not perfect yet.. Thank you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Where'd you learn to do that?" I asked about the intricate knots that he had tied so swiftly. He paused. "Jail." I glared at him in shock at what had just come out of his mouth. "Seriously?" His straight face broke into a grin. "No. Boy Scouts."

The Unit

7 parts Complete

The World is dying... The planet is being consumed by the people it was made for. When the resources finally run out, will Governments be able to maintain control? When the population is fighting for survival, will the police hold authority? When it's every man for himself, will the law be upheld? It wasn't... by the year 2027 democracy was just a three-syllable word that held no more power than freedom. The World was run by those who were willing to get their hands dirty, the people who did everything and anything to survive. The globe was shrouded in the shadow of man and all his greed, the greens and blues so prevalent tarnished by a host more interested in profit than protecting or prolonging the planet. When desperation takes over, what will be left of our humanity? Nothing... The race would've extinguished itself, killed itself off for the last scraps of a world they stomped out. A human-sized footprint, the only reminder of our toxic presence. We would've been nothing more than a memory if not for the Unit. The Unit saved us. The Unit saved the World. But, was that its true purpose? And, is it really evil or simply a fail-safe to stop us from making the simplest human mistake... Repeating them?
