Superheroes weren't real. On that count, neither were supervillains. There were heroes and there were criminals. There were people who laid their own necks on the line for a stranger. And there were people who took what they had never been permitted to take, whether that was simply money or an innocent life.
Then there were people like me, Sara Cormack. People who had never considered whether they would jump in front of the bullet or be the one pulling the trigger. They were generally good, but gray had a tendency of shading, becoming white or black, hero or villain given the right circumstances.
That was the world I grew up in. That was the world I understood.
Then that world changed. It flipped itself sideways and started spiraling out of orbit.
Superheroes became real. And supervillains followed suit. With the supers came Legion Corp and a way to control the outbreak of superhuman abilities. Our new ordinary was the extraordinary.
But when a supervillain attack lands me in the hospital, a secret is revealed. I'm not normal. I'm a super.
When Legion Corp takes me in and the world's strongest heroes begin training me to fight the villains in the world, I have to question whether I'm meant to be the hero or if my destiny is to be the world's worst villain.
