Waking the Hollow

Kennedy Anne Bristol is married to an abusive man, but she doesn't feel like she has the strength to leave on her own. So, when an opportunity to escape far away from their home in Arizona presents itself, she jumps on it. It is a longshot, but she's desperate.

Viola Rose is an old widow who lives at Sleepy Hollow Estates in Essex, Massachusetts. The memory of her dead husband has haunted her for decades, so she decides to run an essay contest to hand the estate over to someone who can love it much more than she can. But there is something different about the house. She's never been in danger, but she always wondered what the truth was. It was much further than what she told her guests who jumped at the chance to stay at a haunted bed and breakfast.

Kennedy hears about the contest, and she decides to tempt fate as a way to escape her dangerous situation. A year passes, and she doesn't hear anything back about her entry, so she assumed the opportunity was dead. That is, until Viola shows up on her doorstep and promises to whisk her away to safety.

Kennedy jumps for the first time in a long time, hoping her husband won't hunt her down once he figures out she ran away from him. But deep down, she knows he will. Of course, he will, but will she survive him and live the life she's dreamed of for so long? If she does, what will the house have to say about it?
