Remus sat alone in his dorms, rereading the letter an owl had delivered to him, confusion on his face. The envelope hadn't been addressed to anyone, and the letter began with "To whomever this reaches, I'm in need of a friend."

The three boys he called his best friends walked in the door, laughing loudly together. "Letter?" Sirius asked, jumping onto Remus' bed. "Who's it from?"

Black shook his head, "You have a pretty laugh," he said. Severus felt heat rush up to his neck and ears as soon as he heard that sentence --pretty! The audacity! His laugh is not pretty at all! Ugh! Nevermind, Severus could never get used to the behavioural changes of the Marauders, ever.
