When the Ghosts Come out to Sing

16-year-old Cookie Cane has been tested by life so much, she feels like she can't take any more of it. Ever since her mother died in a car crash last year, Cookie's father won't leave his room, her older brother has stopped speaking to her, and the only person who can even remotely cares is her best friend Aubrieta. But Cookie's life takes a turn for the better when she signs up for guitar and songwriting lessons. She's liked singing; her mother had a dream to sing professionally when she was about Cookie's age. But Cookie realizes she has talent. Pure talent. Singing brings Cookie closer to her mother, and Cookie learns how to talk to, and eventually date, guys. But when life gets the better of her, will Cookie stay for the last verse?
