The first humans on earth were born with five different hair colors: yellow, magenta, cian, black and white. 
As time went on new hair colors appeared, orange, red, pink, purple, green, blue, sky blue and every color you can think of basically. 
Now, the different colors can't have contact with each other, it's illegal. And that is how the color division system appeared according to the legend.

But one day a pink haired boy and a blue haired guy met each other by coincidence...
