Monster #01
Hearing, sight, smell, all the senses have heightened.
Blood is pumping like liquid fire through my veins.
These overwhelming emotions are taking over. Rage toward this unjust world, hunger for an unborn, thirst for its blood.
People call me a monster, the pup eater. They say I am the worst. Children cower from my name. What do they know about these feelings?
I will die. If I cannot have another meal I'll die for sure. I have walked a long way, Just to find a pup unborn. Yet I haven't found a single one of them. Is it fate? Am I to die like these? Is it okay for me to die?
No, it's not. I have someone to see, someone to protect. I can't remember them. What do they look like? what was my relationship with them? I can't recollect. Funny, how a monster like me have someone to protect.
I have to live for them. I want to see them. I want to hear their voice once more.
One more day, if I could live just one more day I can see them. Just another pup would do.
At this point, I am sure there is no God. But if there is Someone up looking over me, if I had been a little entertaining to You, made you laugh a little with my suffering, let me have another pup. Let me live another day. Let me see those faces dear to me once more. Just once, I promise, I would go back to You if You let me have another day with them.
Please just another, only one other, please, please.......
A genetically unique but emotionally lost teenager must figure out who she is within her mixed-up, warring world of Shifters and Wolfstalkers.
*****
It wasn't Maddie's choice to be born a half-breed, half Shifter, half Wolfstalker -- a hunter of Shifters -- and it wasn't her choice to keep her identity a secret. But after trying to attend high school like any normal sixteen-year-old, things quickly spiral south when her Stalker uncle finds out about her and catapults her out of anonymity and into the awareness--or possibly the crosshairs--of The Order of the Wolfstalker. Maddie must think fast and figure out a way to keep herself and her family safe, or risk losing everything. Including her life.
