Only one summer stands between Sophie Elliot and becoming editor-in-chief of Northwestern's literary magazine. But when she's given the task of writing a personal story as her initiation, Sophie's only option is to accept her mother's wedding invitation and revisit her hometown of Astoria, North Carolina, the place she had been avoiding ever since her best friend died in their senior year of high school. Sophie finds that aside from the painful pieces from her past, there are a few certain perks to being back in the small beach town - about a dozen to be exact. In the pursuit to write about the 12 guys of her past, Sophie reignites sparks, copes with old wounds, and stumbles across unexpected possibilities.
