Set in a distopian future where 24 children are sent forth into the annual Hunger Games as punishment for the districts part in the war.
When it comes time to reap the tributes for the 74th Hunger Games fear looms over the districts as 12 year old Primrose Everdeen is reaped as the female tribute. In hope of protecting Prim Gale Hawthorne volunteers for the districts second tribute.

We know her story. But have you ever wondered what it was like on the home front, in District 12? This story is Gale's, his outlook on the games, his feelings about his best friend's situation, and his interactions with the people of District 12. The story is set during the time period of "The Hunger Games" (book one of the trilogy). It is written from the perspective of Gale Hawthorne, and does not concern any events in books two and three. This is my first fan fiction, my first "real" attempt at long form prose writing, and my first Wattpad story. I appreciate constructive feedback, but please, no hate. While the characters and some plot points are based off of Suzanne Collins's Hunger Games Trilogy, (which I in no way own the rights to) I have created this story using my own imagination. Please do not attempt to recreate it in any form. Additionally, if ideas in this work are similar to that of other writings, it is purely coincidental and I apologize deeply for any inconvenience.
