- An extra-solar object, just outside the sol system; manned mission to, base on, etc.; first semi-interstellar manned mission? 

(A standalone story idea/scenario, that possibly also works as a prelude/prologue/prequel/previous incident-events/whatever to humans going to Pandora, in the Avatar universe - James Cameron's Avatar)

❖ Interstellar pilot and ex-adventurer Alex Gallegos must keep their team safe on an icy moon as sentient storms threaten to repeat the tragedy that ended their last career. ❖ Everyone in the United Inhabited Solar Systems (for some reason, UIS for short) knows to stay away from Mahaha. The icy moon is notorious for failed probe landings and research missions that end in tragedy: the only people to ever venture to its surface needed rescuing after just two weeks. When a prestigious research group decides they want a turn, they ask Alex Gallegos to lead the team. Perfectly qualified and haunted by their past, Alex accepts, hoping to make up for old mistakes and get just a little further from the earth they've left behind. Two months into the seven-month mission, the team is struggling with discontent, damaged equipment, and blizzards acting less and less like normal weather. As Mahaha moves out of range of help and the storms take on a more malicious character, Alex must face the one foe they could never have prepared for. Mahaha may or may not be alive. ❖❖❖ Complete. I wasn't special, I wasn't a marine or a scientist sent here from earth to study Pandora, I was a behaviorist-some say behaviorists are scientists too; but the brain isn't made up of mathematics and hope, it's like the roots of trees. Forever speaking but unheard. I study people's brains and their behavior. I don't look at it with hope and faith. I'm nothing special, not really. When I was accepted to help with Project Pandora, I was exhilarated. This was my big break, something to get me out there. I never expected for it to spiral into my life unprofessionally-become personal, emotional. That I would have to fight in a war between man and alien, choose between my own people and a clan of beings that accepted me-welcomed me, trained and made me one of them. This wasn't supposed to become personal, but it did.

A New Mission: Ash to Fire de Xenomorphee_

Miles Quaritch failed his first mission to kill Jake Sully. Now, Bridgehead Command has a new mission for him and his surviving recoms, Wainfleet and Mansk. A mission to gather intel and make an alliance with the newly contacted Ash People, a Na'vi clan endemic to a volcanic archipelago. What's at first just orders will slowly come to change the young Colonel's life and his relationship with Pandora, his son, his enemies, and the RDA forever. Part 1 in the Avatar, A New Mission series. This large, slow-build story is essentially an Avatar 3 (with heat and flare!) through Miles Quaritch's eyes after the events of the Way of Water and continuing his parallels with Jake Sully. The story really expands to a movie-sized scope as it goes on. Features Miles' existential crisis and also flashbacks to when Spider was with the 1st Recom Unit. Recoms Lyle Wainfleet and Mansk are also greatly developed. Did my best to be logical and reasonable with the in-movies set canon, and sequel foreshadowing. There are a *few* instances of eventual smut, but there are content warnings and it is kindly written to be skippable if that's not your thing! : )

End Game: In an alternate near-future Indochina, Imperial France still rules, much to the chagrin of the local Siamese. Ratana's brother is captain of a premiere league football team, and a hero to the Siamese - and when he is booted from the squad to make space for the son of a powerful nobleman, it sets off a chain of events that could result in the toppling of the Empire. Self-Assembly Required: Human civilization has been almost entirely destroyed by a catastrophic plague of nanites, but one city remains, hidden and protected by Hydra, a team of all-female nano/human hybrids. Is the arrival of a roguish, lone-wolf mercenary a sign that human civilization is recovering, or the event that could destroy the few remaining survivors? The Woman from Mars: The robotic crew of the Basilisk thought humans were gone, long gone. But when they are sucked back in space and time to Jupiter's moon Europa in 2552, they discover a Viking civilization with the technology to rebuild human civilization - assuming the woman from Mars can complete her mission. Blasted Futures is a short story collection. All of these works have been written for The Pub's SciFi Smackdown, a contest in which contestants write Science Fiction stories meeting the specifications laid out by the smackdown's host, @ForbiddenPlanet. [Updates on Tuesdays and Fridays] Shyla woke up dreaming of having a daughter who would cause the world to crumble and yet years later was creating a wish list for her baby shower, having married the man of her dreams. She knew the inevitable would happen but what if she found a way to cheat her visions; she would give the baby away, the events wouldn't happen and the world would be safe. Her dreams and visions had already made an exit for all monkeys yet a slight Ray of fear lingered about her. Her parents had gotten all laboratories dealing with cryogenics to be shut down without much Ado. Yet here she was searching for an illegal lab or doctor who would help her with surrogacy. The pregnancy and the surrogacy would have to be in utmost secrecy. Almost everybody knew her, she was famous for having accurately foretelling the falling of a small meteor that would burn a hole through Earth's moon. Only when the actual event occurred did people pay attention to her warnings. But now her predicament was different. She knew what would happen, but she wanted to alter it. She hoped against all odds knowing that it was futile. Seeing was tricky. If you saw something you know it would happen, but then what was the point of seeing if you couldn't do anything about it. So here she was, trying to change the outcome of what she saw. One day she sat down on a swing and rather moodily kept tossing the salted nuts from her bowl to various targets in sight. One such Target was her bookshelf. She had just tossed a nut at a rather large book when she noticed that it held an invitation. She pulled it out and turned out to be her cousin's wedding card. It had been a while since the event and they were still childless. A sudden thought Wave struck her as she pinged her cousin.

NOT CANON, AVATAR FANFICTION, FIRST DRAFT Millions of years ago, Pandora was nothing but a dead, barren rock orbiting the gas giant Polyphemus. But the little life inside, gave birth to great hopes. The planet's remaining life force formed two superior beings known as "the Great Ones" who replenished Eywa, the life force of Pandora, and ultimately saving the planet from complete death. Once life was restored, the Great Ones settled down near the Hallelujah Mountains which was given to them as a gift from Eywa where they birthered three children. Yet conflict erupted between the siblings when the Great Ones were at the old age, war and destruction broke out on Pandora. Seeing how their own children were destroying the planet that they built, they knew they had to do something. Out of the three, only one remained faithful to Eywa, keeping traditions while the other two, was fell to complete corruption and filled with jealousy, hatred and killing. They journeyed to the Tree of Souls to communicate with Eywa. Yet on their way, they were attacked and were killed, leaving Pandora in the hands of the three siblings. The death of the Great Ones led to the Great War between the siblings. Many died, as they crippled each other's forces for years. As soon as peace was in reach, one of the siblings launched a campaign, destroying all life everywhere he went, in hopes to rule Pandora and kill his siblings. The three siblings were known as Iley, the scaled people of the seas(Iledians), Sangheili, the hell warriors of the mountains(Sanghelios) and Na'vi, the people of the forest(Na'vi). Now, 2000 years before the events of James Cameron's Avatar, the exiled surviving Sanghelios clan Nifnu Tspang(Silent Killers) experienced a strange sickness that plagued their entire clan. In desperation, they sent out two young warriors to Na'vi land in search of a cure to the inevitable fate that lies before their species from Eywa herself.
