(A standalone story idea/scenario, that possibly also works as a prelude/prologue/prequel/previous incident-events/whatever to humans going to Pandora, in the Avatar universe - James Cameron's Avatar)

End Game: In an alternate near-future Indochina, Imperial France still rules, much to the chagrin of the local Siamese. Ratana's brother is captain of a premiere league football team, and a hero to the Siamese - and when he is booted from the squad to make space for the son of a powerful nobleman, it sets off a chain of events that could result in the toppling of the Empire. Self-Assembly Required: Human civilization has been almost entirely destroyed by a catastrophic plague of nanites, but one city remains, hidden and protected by Hydra, a team of all-female nano/human hybrids. Is the arrival of a roguish, lone-wolf mercenary a sign that human civilization is recovering, or the event that could destroy the few remaining survivors? The Woman from Mars: The robotic crew of the Basilisk thought humans were gone, long gone. But when they are sucked back in space and time to Jupiter's moon Europa in 2552, they discover a Viking civilization with the technology to rebuild human civilization - assuming the woman from Mars can complete her mission. Blasted Futures is a short story collection. All of these works have been written for The Pub's SciFi Smackdown, a contest in which contestants write Science Fiction stories meeting the specifications laid out by the smackdown's host, @ForbiddenPlanet. "We don't have a Caretaker. We have a Creationeer. And we love her." ~Humanity. We think we're from here, but are we really? What happened to us before then, and who was involved? Kit - a young B-Tier Creationeer - didn't want this job. She's not trained to be an Intelligent Species Caretaker, and yet she's forced to care for the last remnants of a damaged and traumatized humanity by an old, malicious evil. After carrying us around in a modified to-go habitat bubble for 18K years, Kit wants a vacation, but is hesitant to leave us alone on our new planet she built; Earth. She confides in Pan - an A-Tier Caretaker and Kit's best friend and roommate. She reveals the full story of how she came to be in possession of us and why she can't hand us over to a licensed Caretaker. Pan reveals the tragic truth of the first 10 years of our existence before Kit found us. The new knowledge Ignites a fire in both. So the two young Ethereals come up with another plan that involves the three grad school roommates, Pan, Sid, and Kit, taking us on a long road trip to the Andromeda galaxy for some good old fashioned revenge- justice. And also Screw Jim. (warning: Contains strong language.) Please comment and vote. :) I'd really appreciate it. ^_^ (This idea was born from the second I saw a photo of Earth from orbit showing the glow of our atmosphere and thought, "Haha! We live on a bubble planet." :) ) NOTE: They're not gods. This is not theology. They don't have all the answers, they're not all powerful, and they can't do everything. They're closest equivalent in a fandom would be like lesser cousins to the Q. In this AU, Humanity knows about Kit. They don't deify her. To them, Kit's presence is normal, tangible, and real. She's always been there.

Commander Miles Quaritch was on a mission to escort some new scientists down to the research facility built on Pandora. Whilst doing so, his ego got the best of him and he got the idea to 'show off his power'. Walking up to the pilot, Commander Quaritch ordered a fire on an area covered by trees. Little did he know, he fired on a small medical lab that was run by a team of humans selected specifically by his higher ups. Once he landed and finished his escort mission, he was ordered to return to base and was put on suspension. Back on Pandora, a human child was the only thing left in the rubble of the destroyed medical lab. Unknown to Commander Quaritch, he had orphaned a two year old little girl, and left her in the ruins surrounded by more than 10 dead bodies. The mother of the child was killed, along with every human she has ever known. Once the child woke up and began to cry, she was so young she couldn't do anything. She knew she was hurt and scared, the bright light from the sun and all the ash falling onto her white skin further frightening her. The two year old was all alone. The forest line next to the medical lab began to make noise as a Thanator began to answer to the baby's cries. The feline-esque creature listened to her maternal instincts and followed the sound of despair. The animal climbed down from the trees and poked her heads out of the leaves, her many eyes finding the source and locking onto the injured infant. This is where the child's story begins... (Parts of the original timeline from the movie has been changed for the story line to work properly)

Have you ever imagined that your imagination could transcend what meets the eye? Slowly soaring towards the outer reaches of the solar system, you will encounter Mars first, followed by the asteroid belt teeming with activity, and then the radiant Jupiter and the ringed Saturn. Continuing further, there's Uranus, and beyond Uranus lies the deep blue Neptune, followed by the Kuiper Belt. Farther still is the Oort Cloud, a journey that takes at least 20,000 years... This is a pilot's logbook from the era of interstellar exploration. During that time, fusion technology has become practical, and humanity has embarked on voyages into the frigid expanses of the outer solar system, exploring the Kuiper Belt. Earth remains a stage for political and economic struggles, while the explorers are busy bees of that era, pioneers venturing into various planetary belts, far removed from human civilization. This story encompasses love, longing, psychological descriptions, speculation, as well as themes of loneliness, social anxiety, and PTSD. If you're a tech enthusiast, you'll find foundational elements of interstellar travel here: astronomical units, speed and time, the asteroid belt, Kirkwood gaps, Trojan groups, the Kuiper Belt, Lagrange points, orbital resonance, gravity assist, centrifugal force, the structure and construction materials of interstellar space stations, fusion engines, magnetic confinement, propellant propulsion, and other technological concepts.

A New Mission: Ash to Fire de Xenomorphee_

Miles Quaritch failed his first mission to kill Jake Sully. Now, Bridgehead Command has a new mission for him and his surviving recoms, Wainfleet and Mansk. A mission to gather intel and make an alliance with the newly contacted Ash People, a Na'vi clan endemic to a volcanic archipelago. What's at first just orders will slowly come to change the young Colonel's life and his relationship with Pandora, his son, his enemies, and the RDA forever. Part 1 in the Avatar, A New Mission series. This large, slow-build story is essentially an Avatar 3 (with heat and flare!) through Miles Quaritch's eyes after the events of the Way of Water and continuing his parallels with Jake Sully. The story really expands to a movie-sized scope as it goes on. Features Miles' existential crisis and also flashbacks to when Spider was with the 1st Recom Unit. Recoms Lyle Wainfleet and Mansk are also greatly developed. Did my best to be logical and reasonable with the in-movies set canon, and sequel foreshadowing. There are a *few* instances of eventual smut, but there are content warnings and it is kindly written to be skippable if that's not your thing! : )

The icy moon is notorious for failed probe landings and research missions that end in tragedy: the only people to ever venture to its surface needed rescuing after just two weeks. When a prestigious research group decides they want a turn, they ask Alex Gallegos to lead the team. Perfectly qualified and haunted by their past, Alex accepts, hoping to make up for old mistakes and get just a little further from the earth they've left behind. Two months into the seven-month mission, the team is struggling with discontent, damaged equipment, and blizzards acting less and less like normal weather. As Mahaha moves out of range of help and the storms take on a more malicious character, Alex must face the one foe they could never have prepared for. Mahaha may or may not be alive. ❖❖❖ Complete. I wasn't special, I wasn't a marine or a scientist sent here from earth to study Pandora, I was a behaviorist-some say behaviorists are scientists too; but the brain isn't made up of mathematics and hope, it's like the roots of trees. Forever speaking but unheard. I study people's brains and their behavior. I don't look at it with hope and faith. I'm nothing special, not really. When I was accepted to help with Project Pandora, I was exhilarated. This was my big break, something to get me out there. I never expected for it to spiral into my life unprofessionally-become personal, emotional. That I would have to fight in a war between man and alien, choose between my own people and a clan of beings that accepted me-welcomed me, trained and made me one of them. This wasn't supposed to become personal, but it did.

NOT CANON, AVATAR FANFICTION, FIRST DRAFT Millions of years ago, Pandora was nothing but a dead, barren rock orbiting the gas giant Polyphemus. But the little life inside, gave birth to great hopes. The planet's remaining life force formed two superior beings known as "the Great Ones" who replenished Eywa, the life force of Pandora, and ultimately saving the planet from complete death. Once life was restored, the Great Ones settled down near the Hallelujah Mountains which was given to them as a gift from Eywa where they birthered three children. Yet conflict erupted between the siblings when the Great Ones were at the old age, war and destruction broke out on Pandora. Seeing how their own children were destroying the planet that they built, they knew they had to do something. Out of the three, only one remained faithful to Eywa, keeping traditions while the other two, was fell to complete corruption and filled with jealousy, hatred and killing. They journeyed to the Tree of Souls to communicate with Eywa. Yet on their way, they were attacked and were killed, leaving Pandora in the hands of the three siblings. The death of the Great Ones led to the Great War between the siblings. Many died, as they crippled each other's forces for years. As soon as peace was in reach, one of the siblings launched a campaign, destroying all life everywhere he went, in hopes to rule Pandora and kill his siblings. The three siblings were known as Iley, the scaled people of the seas(Iledians), Sangheili, the hell warriors of the mountains(Sanghelios) and Na'vi, the people of the forest(Na'vi). Now, 2000 years before the events of James Cameron's Avatar, the exiled surviving Sanghelios clan Nifnu Tspang(Silent Killers) experienced a strange sickness that plagued their entire clan. In desperation, they sent out two young warriors to Na'vi land in search of a cure to the inevitable fate that lies before their species from Eywa herself.
