Named after the aunt who burned down her high school, Olivia Peterson never had a chance at a normal life. But when an innocent birthday tradition results in a new set of curtains-and an unforgiving hole scorched into her carpet-Olivia realises that her life is even more messed up than she thought.

Objects around her begin to burst into flames, and Olivia can't help but question why. Ryan Murray has the answers, and as she unintentionally forces his hand, dark intentions are uncovered, which threaten everything she has ever known.  

Haunted by her aunt's sins, Olivia worries that history will repeat itself. And she's not the only one who's concerned. Ryan will do everything in his power to protect the world from her kind. But when Olivia and Ryan are forced to fight together against an unknown adversary, they begin to question who the true enemy is.

Is it the girl who can burn the house down, or the force that would stop her before she gets the chance?

His voice was dangerous, daring me to laugh, and something about the rumbling in his throat compelled me to abide by his every demand. His words rolled through the air between us, and he moved so that his lips were next to my ear. I shuddered when his breath tickled my hairline. 

"Do you have a less funny explanation for how you can create fire?" he breathed. 

My shoulders, which once shook with laughter, now quivered with anticipation.
