Anybody who wishes to be in a runabout -even if with a senior officer- must take an annual succeeding test of command in the holosuite for it to be recorded in the Starfleet database. When it's Julian's day to take the test he is finding it a lot harder than he remembered the last six times he had done it. In his moment of hopelessness, a helpful Cardassian breaks into his program and decides to encourage the success of the doctor with a little game and a friendly bet. Garak plans to use all his mind tricks to help the young doctor succeed.
