Orin Rainemere was never meant to inherit anything. His father had four older brothers, each whose son's had better claim to Whitehawk Keep than Orin, yet war had left him the only heir to the castle. Now the reluctant blacksmith turned Lord has to learn how to navigate running a holdfast while he deals with the fallout of conflict. Running Whitehawk Keep turns out to be even more complicated than he imagined, especially when his liege-lords begin parading their daughters before him in hopes of securing an alliance by marriage. The young blacksmith never had time for prissy ladies in fancy gowns though, and he can't keep his eyes from wandering to the violet eyed half-elf who runs the Whitehawk forge and sings enchantments into the metal she works. Sparks fly between the two smiths as Orin is torn between what calls to his heart and what his advisers and liege-lords expect of him.
