Pietyr wasn't one for being in the centre of attention, but he had to get used to it; for he was the son of the king and heir to the throne. His father had resigned the throne to his son; so that he could help him become comfortable in his new position. Pietyr was grateful for that; that he wouldn't be forced into the position abruptly. However, he still felt unready and very unsure of himself.
However, the ongoing tradition, in this land of Gatensbury, was each new king or queen must choose a tree. Once this tree is chosen, they plant it during the coronation for all the land to see. There are scholars who study why the monarchs choose the trees that they do. They are able to tell the future that the new ruler will give them just from which tree they decide to plant.
Pietyr was terrified of the day that he must choose his tree. He was more terrified of this day than the actual coronation. He felt as if it was some sort of test that he wasn't able to study for. But when the time came he knew exactly what his tree should be, and it is nothing that any of the scholars had seen or heard of.
