[completed!] Under editing! Man kind, invincible and scared of nothing. We were the superior race, and we revelled in it. We all thought we were the ones at the top of the food chain, completely untouchable. However it was like I said, we 'thought' we were. In the darkness lurks a creature like no other, that prays upon us. Hunting us! Waiting for just the right moment to strike, to knock us off of our high pedestal and back onto the ground. I know this because I have seen this beast. Been face to face with it, battled toe to toe with this creature, fighting for what was left of my life, and I was losing! - - - - - - - - "Watch out!" I scream in alert, as a hard thudding sound pierced our ears as something slammed into our side of the car, sending a sensation of dizziness as the car spun of of control. The screeching tires dragged along the floor, with the faint stench of the irony liquid dripping from my head as it all grew still...Complete

Life has never seemed more serene than as I lay dying. Blood coats the forest floor beneath me, connecting with the foilage-covered soil in a parade of musty, copper smells. Through the rain drops that fall on me from the treetops, I can feel the icy breath of a dawning winter. It will be cold this year. It's a shame Ill never see it- I love the cold. Most cold. This cold that envelopes me now is hostile and uninviting, almost empty. They say that when you're faced with death, your life flashes before your eyes. The same could not be said for me. (74,890 words) The wind rushed past me as my wings beat against the night sky. I noticed a copse of trees up ahead. I slowed to a stop, talons clutching a low-hanging branch. I looked beyond the trees and a pair of glowing golden eyes met my own. Wolf eyes. My eyes widened in fear as I took off. I dodged the trees in my path, but one branch snapped on my wing. My vision blurred, pain lacing through my wing. I continued to flap my wings, clinging desperately to the notion I would make it out alive. More than one wolf was chasing me, their paws a staccato on the ground. They would catch up. They would devour me. I tried to stay in the air, but the pain was unbearable. I fell to the ground, fluttering down like a dead leaf. I snapped my eyes open. Breathing heavily, I sat up. My room shifted in and out of focus as my eyes adjusted. When I was little, my father always told me that dreams were just my imagination, that people were never chased by wolves, and people certainly could never be birds. My dream continued the one I'd been having for the past couple of nights. I ran, gasping for breath, through the familiar woods from a dark figure behind me. The faster I tried to run, the slower I seemed to go, until it was like I was running in place. I knew I needed to run. I was terrified of what the figure would do when he caught me. "Mara Leigh," a deep, smooth voice called. It was almost hypnotic. That was new. The figure had never spoke before now. I ran as fast as I could go, eyes searching the forest floor for a big stick or something that I could use to defend myself. "Mara Leigh!" the voice came again, this time more insistent. The forest slowly started to fade and I started to awake to someone shaking my shoulders. "Beau?" I mumbled, turning my head to the side. What's Beau doing in my room this time of night? Why is he shaking me? "Do not call me that name." My eyes flew open as I jumped at the voice from my dream. A face was right in front of mine, and just like the voice, it wasn't Beau. Before I could form a scream, a hand covered my mouth. I tried to bite it but I couldn't get my mouth to open. He's too strong. I started to use my whole body to try to get away, but he crawled on top of me, holding me down. I pulled the hidden knife out from under my pillow and slashed as hard as I could at him, but he just grabbed my wrist and squeezed it until the pain made me drop the knife. Then he grabbed both my hands in one of his and held them over my head. He held me down while I struggled. I grunted and moved and tried to kick and scream, but I only wore myself out. Exhausted, I stopped thrashing and let the tears flow freely down my cheeks. I didn't know what to do, so I just tried to prepare myself for whatever was coming.Complete
