"Our dependents are now sixteen. They stand on the precipice of adulthood, and it is now up to them to decide what kind of people they will be." Jack's voice jumps up and down, putting more emphasis on the words or the parts he finds are more important. "Decades ago our ancestors realized that it is not political ideology, religious belief, race, or nationalism that is to blame for a warring world. Rather, they determined that it was the fault of human personality-of humankind's inclination toward evil, in whatever form that is. They divided into factions that sought to eradicate those qualities they believed responsible for the world's disarray." What qualities do I believe responsible for the world's disarray? In which bowl will I spill a drop of my blood? I don't know! "Those who blamed aggression formed Amity." I see everyone in front of me smile to each other and look back at Jack. "Those who blamed ignorance became the Erudite." I see them raise their chins and push their chest out. I think it's to show everyone that they feel like they are in the best faction there is. They are so proud. I look on my left and see my brother do the same thing and nod once. He agrees so much with what Jack just said that he doesn't even realize that I'm looking at him. "Those who blamed duplicity created Candor." Candor don't like Amity and I appreciate Amity therefore I don't like them. I would rather stay in my faction then go in theirs. "Those who blamed selfishness made Abnegation." I don't think selfishness is the biggest problem we have which means I do no completely agree with Abnegation. I like the name of their faction though. I don't know why, I just do. "And those who blamed cowardice were the Dauntless." I can hear few of them laugh between each other. I do blame coward people sometimes.
