Years of foster care gave Mattie Carter a smart mouth and too much attitude. She dropped out of school, aged out of the system and grabbed for the freedom. When the dead end jobs dried up, she found herself scared and homeless on some very mean streets.

Caught shoplifting food, Mattie is handed to a rescue agency. The result is a job cleaning for a woman devoted to raising pedigreed poodles. Mattie falls in love with the dogs. When Mrs. Hale helps Mattie train as a pet groomer and gets her a job a posh doggie spa, Mattie finds her niche. She even dares dream of a dog grooming business of her own.

Life is perfect until Mrs. Hale’s champion poodle is dognapped for ransom while in Mattie’s care. Everyone, even Mrs, Hale, suspects that Mattie is involved. The spa fires her. All Mattie’s dreams fall into ruin around her.

For once, Mattie won’t give up. She sets out to find the beloved pooch and clear her name. Unfortunately, she stumbles into a terrifying secret world of illegal dog fights, online betting and vicious pit bulls trained to kill much more than each other. Mattie’s problem becomes getting out alive.

•GirlxGirl• Scout O'Brian hasn't had the greatest start at life. Growing up in countless foster homes, hasn't been her ideal childhood. One of the worst ones gifted her with a gorgeous little girl, and although she was young, Scout knew she'd work as hard as she could to be the best mother she could. In order to protect her, Scout plays it off like Charlotte is her sister. Over the years She's done odd jobs to earn money that she put away so she could leave on her 18th birthday. They've ranged from dog walking to selling drugs on the street. She's in no way proud of this, but she did what she did in order to protect herself and Charlotte. She's been arrested many times, in countless fist-fights protecting her "sister" from creepy foster siblings. But when she turns eighteen and finally frees her and Charlotte from their latest "Family from Hell" and books it three thousand miles all the way to Oregon, things finally start to look up. Until she falls for her gorgeous but mean as hell principle, and then everything she's ever known falls apart. Copyright © 2024 by Kaytlyn Allen All rights reserved. A strikingly beautiful girl, she has an amazing family and amazing education. She loves making friends and is good when it comes to understanding new people. She can make people open up to her easily. But what will happen when she finds someone who is unwilling to open up? Brent has moved to Kira's neighbourhood after his dad remarried Becca, the first time he even looked at a woman after Brent's mom died. Brent's not fitting the picture of 'happy family' because he is caught up in his grief. Brent adopts a dog, but the dog has the same feelings that Brent harbours for his new mom. Is he willing to accept the past and grow or will he collapse into himself? Kira's family invite Brent's family for dinner, to welcome them to the neighbourhood. Kira is immediately drawn to Brent, but will she be able to help him?
