Kay also has a younger sister Charlotte, Char for short who is a year younger than Kay. When their parents get in a terrible car accident when Kay is eighteen her whole world practically falls apart. As soon as she can she leaves her past behind in Miami and moves to Malibu with some of her close friends including Bella and Avery who she thinks she knows. When her ex boyfriend shows up secrets that have been kept from her start to reveal themselves. Suddenly Kay's life isn't as simple as she thought it was.
