"Let me get this straight," He stared was on me, cold and emotionless. "I, Jackson McLain, reject you Lynette Jane Belldon." Each individual one of those words stabbed me in the heart. It felt like my heart shattering into a million pieces. Was this actually happening? Was the person who was meant to love and cherish me about to walk out of my life? Years and years I've waited, the day where my fated soulmate would show himself to love and embrace me, I thought maybe I would have a happy ending like fairytales. Obviously not. Unwanted tears started to roll there way down my cheeks. Dammit. There was a hint of guilt in his eyes, which left me a fragment of hope. Maybe... But that tiny spark of hope was almost immediately replaced with an stone, cold expression. "Fine, I, Lynette Jane Belldon accept your rejection Jackson McLain." As soon as those very words left my mouth, I felt my heart break into two. A gap that could never be replaced. A crack that would never heal. Before more tears threatened to emerge, I ran down the empty hallway. My wolf whimpered, but there was no turning back now.

*Rejected at First Sight* Spin-off series (By GirlWhoChasesRainbow) 🌶 "Oomph!" The sound rushed out of my mouth as the door opened before I could reach the handle and my body hits a wall. I stumble backwards slightly before a hand wraps around my waist, keeping me from falling. Looking up, I realize this wasn't a wall, but instead a very attractive male. A very messy, but definitely sexy, mop of black hair sat on top of his head. When I looked closer, I realized that it was a deep shade of brown that was probably often mistaken for black. My gaze traveled to his eyes, where I found two deep ocean blue eyes looking at me. I kept going further down to his too crooked nose to be called straight, which I assumed came from too many fights. His skin was tanned, but an olive tone suggested he had a natural darker complexion to begin with. My eyes finally found his pink, very plump lips which were resting slightly open. His lips jerked up into a lopsided sneer as his hand snapped back to his side. The sudden movement left my back cold, as if his palm had been a source of warmth. "You've got to be kidding me!" His tone dripped with disgust. My eyes turned to questioning as I looked back up into his eyes. I brought my hand up to rub my nose, squinting at the slight pain. "What the hell." He grumbled. "I, Jay Julian, reject you as my mate." He, or Jay, said with venom lacing his voice. He quickly turned and walked down the now vacant hallway with no glance back. Rejection? What the hell was that? Was it some sort of local lingo? How did I get rejected on my first day? The first person I make eye contact with at this school rejects me. I guess that's how this school works, if the hottest boy in school rejects you, you're a nobody. If that's how this small town school worked, then I was screwed. So much for making friends, or mates, or whatever they call people in this place. I shake those ocean blue eyes out of my head and continue into the office to start my new life.
