The girl in the story which is Sophia Emerald Villaroel is the slave of Dominique Alcantara. Sophia is ones a rich girl when her mother died and her father walk away with his another girl. She was staying in her aunt's house but her aunt was very strict and doesn't really care about Sophia. Dominique Alcantara is one of the most riches family in the Philippines.
