The Dream Oath is a Final Fantasy 6 (American 3) fanfic story based on the opera scene in The World of Balance.
 
Maria and Draco are in love, pledged to each other. Her kingdom gets conquered, Draco goes missing. Maria is forced to wed the conqueror, Ralse.

The opera scene was always one of my favorite parts of Final Fantasy 6. I'd find myself humming the song years after I'd last played through the game. There is so much to the opera story, but it's never expanded on in the game. 

I wanted to create a version for my headcanon to give the opera more depth whenever I do another playthrough.
