And since he could and well kinda didn't want to be human he would watch over them and protect them. Without his brothers in secret. However after saving you from the purple dragons he's been Curious as to why he cares so much about you.

Thousands of years ago, two brothers stood on opposite sides of the battlefield, one fought for peace while the other wanted violence. They were a set of twins who were raised by their separated parents after a law had been broken and one was taken to live in the mountains while the other grew up in the peaceful lands of their kings and queens. This isn't the 2012 universe, it has nothing to do with that storyline.
