"It should have been a glorious evening. An evening filled with anticipation, love, laughter and bright beginnings. Isn't that what every bride should feel on the eve of her wedding? But in the pit of my stomach, I felt the storm clouds approaching. The wind was changing and I felt the most dread I had ever felt, even more than when my parents died. There was a coldness in my bones, so much so that I felt like an old woman with crippling arthritis. It burned, ached and made me hold my breath in dread. This feeling was like walking through a graveyard in the dead of night. It was evil. I stare at my reflection in the window, studying myself. Trying to see what he sees when he looks at me. I'm not anything special. I'm not tall or model thin. My nose is a little too wide, not horribly so but not the cute little pixie nose that everyone wants. My breasts are too big, my hips a little wider that I would like. My lips were just okay, no pout, not model lips. My best feature had to be my eyes, deep emerald green but when I was angry they would flash like the green of the sea with flecks of blue and gold. At nineteen, I was young and inexperienced with life, although my life had been hard. I was too busy trying to live to worry about how I looked. I reach out and touch my reflection, wondering what it is that he sees in such an ordinary girl. " CJ Campbell thought her life was finally going "right". She's getting married to Luke Douglas and everything is coming up roses until her past comes back to haunt her. Young and scared, she runs as only someone who has everything to hide can. She makes a decision to destroy herself so that her past can never catch up. Luke Douglas has spent the last 6 years running on empty. Ever since CJ disappeared on the eve of their wedding, he's been driving himself hard to forget everything about her. And what about Chloe Anderson? What is it about her that makes him feel like he's met her before?
