Ava Quinby is a shy simple girl. Her dad is in the marines which means she travels a lot with her father. That is until her father decides to get married to her abusive stepmother and bringing along her daughter who makes sure Ava knows she's worthless. After her father tells her the breaking news that they are leaving again she decides to run away only to meet her heroes Pierce the Veil who take care of her.
