As the world is about to find out, Khawlah is no ordinary girl. Ever since she was a child, she has been hiding a grave secret. In a nation where supers are feared and discriminated against for their formidable abilities, and where Islamophobia is rampant, she has never felt comfortable enough to belong anywhere. To protect the people around her, she pushes them out of her lives and teaches herself to rely only on Allah.

Flynn has always obeyed the commands of his mother without thinking too much about it. But when he meets a person that finally starts to question where he came from, why his mother raised him with a knife always ready in his hands, the reason behind his brother sometimes coming home with blood streaked across his body, he starts to understand that she is not just afraid for his family's safety.
